Christie Palmerston carved a track in the 1880's from Geraldtown (now known as Innisfail) to Herberton for the purposes of mining. He camped at the base of the Millaa Millaa Falls.

In 1910 the township of Millaa Millaa was born. By the end of 1910 the first Eacham Shire Council was elected.

The 1st steam train rolled into Millaa Millaa on 19 December 1921 where the current Lions Park is. The rail line was closed in 1964.

Millaa Millaa was rich with timbers for building and cabinet making. Bullock teams carried timber to the sale yards. Between 1923-1939 many logs were railed away. From 1939 - 1986 timber was carted by road.

By the 1920's there were a few dairy farms operating in Millaa Millaa with the peak of the dairy industry occurring in 1973. Millaa Millaa Co-Operative Dairy Association (Cheese Factory) operated between 1929 - 1973, it was world renowned for their fine cheese making winning the gold metal in the 1970 International Dairy Show in Glasgow Scotland for matured cheddar. Today there are a limited number of dairy farms still operating.

Millaa Millaa was a thriving town by 1930s - with cessation of logging and a decline in the dairy industry -  Millaa Millaa has stabilised as highland village with unique character.

The first Progress Association of Millaa Millaa met in 1912, it had 24 members, swelling to 60 members by the first Annual General Meeting. The Chamber of Commerce works hard to improve Millaa Millaa. We are all so very proud of Millaa Millaa, a town that continues to stand the test of time.
